Manny

Genre: All House

Bio: I started out as a mobile DJ with 'The LiveWire Disco" at 16, Playing at weddings etc for two years. Generally just for the free food and booze!

Then in 1988 I was taken to an acid house party called Beyond Therapy... and believe me, I needed therapy after it!!! From then on I was hooked and moved into the dance scene in a big way, illegal parties, warehouses and the underground vibe was all I was about. I bought my first decks at 19, Technics 1210's mk2 from a hifi shop (in Witham of all places) and to this day 18 years later they're still going strong.

My first break into music came from a couple of mates in Southend, playing on Planet FM and running a shop called Mind In Motion Records tucked away behind a clothes shop. Most Friday nights I hooked up with mates at the Barn in Braintree rocking my socks off at the classy night called Mangled. This was listed in magazines as one of the top 10 clubs in the country, later on I would be given my first set at Mangled at a reunion party. Here I must say a huge thanks to Mark, Greg, and John - and of course to MR C and the man like Ju.

From then on I found myself as a warm up DJ at Oscars on the pier at clacton, this was always a mad venue as the floor used to bounce so no one could stand still! But my real oppertunity came from the biggest party organization in Essex at the time, this was Rapture. It was here as a resident that paved the way for me and put me on the map.

Working aswell as DJing at Rapture was always a pleasure, it was massive everytime with the pinnacle point of playing along side the one Tony De Vit, what a legend. Many other quality acts/artists played there at the university and I was often in awe of them, Tall Paul, Darren Emerson, Steve Lee, Laurence Nelson and Darren Pearce. For Years I was so lucky to be along side those names, warming up or playing the last hour at the party, on a 50k rig with a top flight laser/light show. Thanks to LOL, Drifter and all the crew, too many too mention. Also thanks to my closest pal at the time, the Generale, Geoff Kemp. Often my partner in crime on the back2back thing - Respect.

I have also played for 'Love Avin It Juicy' (Colchester) 'Club UK' (Ipswich) 'Appogee' (Boat Parties) 'L.O.V.E.D' (Corfu) To all those involved I must say a huge thank you, all promoters and friends, past and present, they were top times and they mean so much to me.

Most recently I had a go at my own promotion with the man Galfonz. The night was called Hush! and it's best it stayed as hush , if you know what I mean!

So after a while out of the scene, having other things in my life to love and enjoy, I now find myself returning again to the dance scene with the Evil Kitty Kru, and Mystery FM 87.5/Illusion 106.7 - Doing the full circle back to radio. So all there is left to say is thank you to all those that know, and to those that don't... well you do now!! - PEACE.
